Happy National Farm to School Month
October is here, which means it is time to celebrate Farm to School Month! Every year, we take this time to recognize and celebrate the great things schools and their districts are doing to support their local economies through local procurement, maintain their school gardens, and/or promote ag and nutrition education.
There are many ways that Indiana schools can get involved this year, even in the strange times of COVID-19. See a list below of different celebrations happening all month long.

Indiana Food Day
This year Indiana Food Day will be featuring Spinach! A fun, green leafy vegetable that is part of the chenopod family is versatile and yummy. Check out IDOE’s guide to Food Day HERE.
Great Lakes Apple Crunch
The Great Lakes Apple Crunch was scheduled for October 8th, but you can celebrate all month long. Very popular this year for its ability to include all learning environments, the Great Lakes Apple Crunch is a staple farm to school activity here in the midwest. National School Lunch Week
