Be counted!

The third USDA Farm to School Census is underway through the end of November. The Census is the only national survey that examines school districts’ farm to school activities. It’s important that every School Food Authority (SFA) complete the Census that was sent to them this fall.

This includes SFAs that aren’t currently participating in farm to school - your data is important too, and will help create the most accurate picture of the scope, reach and impact of farm to school nationwide. Check with your SFA to ask if they’ve completed the Census, and make sure your efforts are counted!

About the Farm to School Census

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA) formally established a Farm to School Program within USDA to improve access to local foods in schools. In order to establish realistic goals with regard to increasing the availability of local foods in schools, in 2013, USDA conducted the first nationwide Farm to School Census (the Census). In 2015, USDA conducted a second Farm to School Census to measure progress towards reaching this goal.
